Overview
A manufacturer of gear reducers and motors required consistently repeatable pressing operations to improve production efficiency while reducing safety risks. Power Team was able to integrate a PLC controller to automate the hydraulic press application that adjusts pressure along with data recording, of pressure and speed. The system was also integrated with the customer's MES systems for improved quality control.
The Challenge
The manufacturer experienced quality issues caused by inconsistent pressing pressure during bearing installation. In addition, manual operation of the press created safety risks and reduced process consistency.
Solution Presented
Power Team's hydraulic press was integrated with a PLC-controlled 60233E pump. Press configurations include C-profile up to 25 tons, H-profile up to 15 tons, and roller bed press up to 200 tons. The PLC-controlled press system now records press data, transmits information to MES systems, and allows adjustable working pressure and speed.
Results
The solution improved production efficiency, enhanced safety, delivered pressure accuracy above 95%, and enabled data-driven quality control across reducer and motor assembly operations.
