Overview
Bridge deck positioning requires controlled lifting and precise alignment to prevent structural damage during placement. A hydraulic pump and cylinder system was used to lift and keep the bridge deck square while it was positioned, ensuring controlled movement and protecting the structure during installation.
The Challenge
During an infrastructure project, a customer needed to lift a bridge deck section and keep it square while positioning it. Maintaining alignment during lifting was critical to avoid introducing stress or damage to the bridge structure during placement.
Bridge deck positioning involves heavy structural components that must be lifted evenly and kept square throughout the process. Uneven movement or loss of alignment can result in structural damage, rework, or safety risks.
Solution Presented
A hydraulic positioning solution was supplied using six RD10013 hydraulic cylinders powered by a PE554S power unit. The system provided controlled lifting force across multiple points, allowing the bridge deck to be raised while maintaining square alignment throughout positioning.
