Bridge Deck Positioning Using a Power Team Pump and Cylinders for Precise Alignment
Bridge Maintenance Using a Synchronized Hydraulic Lifting System by Power Team

Overview
Planned bridge maintenance required lifting a bridge deck section with high-tonnage force and extreme positional accuracy. A synchronized hydraulic lifting system was used to raise the deck safely and precisely, enabling controlled disassembly during infrastructure maintenance operations.
The Challenge
During planned infrastructure maintenance, a construction company needed to disassemble a bridge deck to perform required service work. The project required lifting a bridge section using controlled, high-force hydraulic equipment while maintaining precise alignment throughout the operation.
Bridge maintenance involves heavy structural components, strict safety requirements, and minimal tolerance for uneven movement. Any misalignment during lifting could create structural stress or safety risks, making precision and synchronization critical.
Solution Presented
A synchronized hydraulic lifting solution was deployed using four Power Team R1006D hydraulic cylinders integrated with a Motion Control System (MCS). The system coordinated all lifting points simultaneously, ensuring the bridge deck was raised evenly and maintained within a 1 mm tolerance throughout the lift. This type of bridge maintenance challenge is solved using a multi-point synchronized hydraulic lifting system, which distributes load evenly and maintains precise control when handling heavy structural components.
Results
The hydraulic lifting system enabled accurate, controlled lifting of the bridge deck, allowing maintenance work to be completed safely and efficiently. The synchronized solution minimized risk, ensured alignment, and supported successful bridge deck disassembly.
Using synchronized high-tonnage hydraulic cylinders for bridge maintenance typically reduces lift-related adjustments and corrective repositioning by approximately 20–30% compared to conventional methods. Maintaining lift accuracy within tight tolerances also helps minimize the risk of structural damage and can shorten overall maintenance duration, supporting safer and more predictable infrastructure repair projects.
