Overview

Self-propelled boom lifts require reliable hydraulic pump systems to support lifting, rotating, and driving functions. Variable flow control is needed for different boom actions, while a backup pump ensures continued operation if the main pump fails. Stone hydraulic pumps provide dependable performance for mobile access equipment.

The Challenge

The customer required two hydraulic pumps for a self-propelled boom lift—one main pump for normal operation and one backup pump. The main pump needed to operate at various flow rates for different actions such as rotating and lifting.

Without a reliable backup system, pump failure could disable boom lift operation. The system also required stable performance across multiple operating modes without compromising safety.

Solution Presented

Hydraulic Technologies supplied a Stone hydraulic pump solution. The main pump configuration included UD-C002, UD-C002-1, UD-C021, and UD-C025 models to support variable flow requirements. Backup pump models FC-952, FC-1013, and FC-966 were integrated to automatically put the system into operation when the main pump is unavailable.

Results

The Stone hydraulic pump system delivers reliable operation for self-propelled boom lifts, ensuring smooth lifting and rotation under variable flow conditions. The integrated backup pumps improved system safety and uptime by maintaining functionality during main pump failure.
