Overview
High-pressure pipe heat exchanger installations require controlled and reliable bolt tensioning to ensure joint integrity and operational safety. Non-standard bolt configurations often demand specially designed hydraulic tensioning tools capable of delivering accurate and safe load applications during installation
The Challenge
The customer required special hydraulic tools for high-pressure pipe heat exchanger installation. Due to the non-standard bolt design, conventional bolting methods could not provide the required safety or effectiveness.
Non-standard bolt geometries and high-pressure requirements make manual or standard bolting methods inefficient and potentially unsafe. Precise load control and secure tool engagement were required to complete the installation effectively.
Solution Presented
Hydraulic Technologies supplied four sets of standard Bolting System's SRT8 hydraulic load cell bolt tensioners. The solution included specially designed puller sleeves and bridge components to accommodate the non-standard bolt configuration, enabling safe and effective tensioning during heat exchanger installation.
Results
The SRT8 bolt tensioning solution enables controlled, safe, and effective bolt tensioning for pipe heat exchanger installation. The custom tool configuration improved installation efficiency while ensuring reliable joint integrity for high-pressure service.
